This Zen-inspired North Vancouver renovation is all about texture. Mid-tone, horizontal rift-cut white oak cabinets warm up concrete floors in the kitchen. Natural stone countertops and black glass backsplash tile provide contrast. These darker elements are balanced by glass flip-up upper cabinets which are lit from behind. Even the hardware is installed horizontally for a clean, relaxed vibe.
The guest bathroom is a calming space highlighted by marble tile installed in a linear format at the backsplash and juxtaposed with a pebbly format on the shower floor.
The master ensuite vanity is anchored by a vertical column clad in textured natural slate mosaic supporting rift-cut oak floating shelves. The space is enhanced by another vertical build-out behind the toilet. This provides organized storage and display space as well as balance to offset the taller height of the Japanese soaker tub.
