Decorating For Small Spaces, North Vancouver, BC

When this client came to us and asked that we provide him with a design for furniture and built-ins the only items existing in the town-house were the drum pendant in the living room and the wood coffee table. The existing small space was open concept with the kitchen, dining area and living room all flowing in to each other. The kitchen cabinets were white painted Shaker style but the client wanted a modern wood media unit built in his adjoining living room. Therefore, we unified the two spaces by combining the white Shaker design from the kitchen with contemporary styled horizontal grain oak shelves for the living room built-in. The objective was to create a personalized space where the client could just as easily entertain friends watching the game or could sit and read a book surrounded by favourite personal possessions. Note that the built-in was designed with a sliding door that could be pulled over to conceal the TV when not in use. (Photography by Randal Kurt Photography)
