About Me

As the owner of Interior Solutions Design Group Inc I have always believed the single most important design initiative is the creation of mood within a space. Every room is a small story that is part of a greater tale. This tale should be riveting in its collection of details, i.e. colour, balance, texture, lighting & scale, that ultimately makes the homeowner and their guests feel a particular mood.
I live out my passion for story-telling in my projects, through my Blog and through the rest of my social media pages and feeds. Quite simply, I want to help you create your story!

Are you a fan of alliteration in marketing; i.e. F Are you a fan of alliteration in marketing; i.e. Flat-lay Fridays, Monday Mood-Boards & WALLPAPER WEDNESDAYS? If you are, well, it's Wednesday! One of my favorite wallpaper installs was the addition of this authentic, actual banana bark paper in to a stark white, builder-basic powder room. I layered a mosaic mirror over the existing mirror by hanging it with chain from the ceiling. Thankfully the floors were hardwood so there was warmth in the room. Next, I introduced texture using a wallpaper that complemented the clients existing collections of art & accessories throughout the rest of the space.⁠ @phillipjeffriesltd

From carefully choosing neutral tones to incorporating textured elements, the goal is to seamlessly blend the outdoors with the indoor. Embrace simplicity and tranquility, allowing the eye to travel through the space to nature's splendor beyond. This also creates a calming interior geared toward tranquility and relaxation. 🌿✨
When renovating existing spaces we are often faced When renovating existing spaces we are often faced with design challenges requiring the input of engineers, contractors, plumbers & electricians to ensure a successful design result. In this recent condo reno we wanted to remove the walls containing the original contained, tiny, dark, old-fashioned kitchen to create an open-concept flow with the rest of the space. However post-tension construction of the building limited our options. By creating a drop above the kitchen which tied in to existing walls for support we were then able to create the structure required for the hood fan exhaust as support for the open shelf design feature above the island. Problem solving and creating design solutions is the part I love most of all about my job. The challenges of designing interior renovations that incorporate budgets, space, structure, building limitations and heating and venting to name just a few while weaving it all together to create a functioning and visually pleasing space is the designers' secret sauce. I think I can speak for most designers when I say that these challenges are the most satisfying part of our job. When these clients were moving in to their new hom When these clients were moving in to their new home they had a few pieces of furniture they were bringing with them. We analyzed our clients needs and wishes then set about creating a master floor plan for each room we were furnishing. We determined that the best room for their existing white leather couch and blue silk area rug was the living room. White leather and silk were not going to cut it in the family room which would see heavy use. However, if we paired these items along with an existing baby grand piano in the living room it meant that the living room would actually be used. The silk rug and the baby grand brought a layer of formality to the room that we softened by incorporating a large swivel chair covered in a textured fabric and a couple of poufs clad in a durable fun fabric. Two people could cuddle and swivel on the chair and the kids could climb all over the poufs while one was playing the piano. We also incorporated a round coffee table which encouraged little ones to be part of the space as there are no sharp corners. Dining Room Design Tip: Avoid matching furniture sets to create a unique look, beginning with the perfect table. The gold leaf circular detail of the base, metal foot and thick square tabletop edge with apron were exactly what this large open-concept dining space required to weight the space. I paired the table with simple Parsons chairs that had just the right amount of wood detail on the outside edges of the backs. I then upholstered them in a timeless & luxurious velvet for a winning combination of transitional elegance that could sit within a luxurious Westcoast contemporary home; the supporting characters that ensure the star of the show shines! Back from holidays it is a time when clients undertake new interior design projects and the industry celebrates our trade through a steady stream of industry events, trade shows and product releases. I love this time of year!

We used black & white patterned wallpaper as the perfect backdrop for the painterly side panels and the kids toys in this playroom. Try it for yourself and comment how it looks! PS We even encouraged the tweens to colour the pattern with their pencil crayons, so long as they were sure to keep it within the lines!
